Genesis Inspiration Foundation Gifts Fairmount $25,000

Wednesday, July 16 began as a typical day here at Fairmount; students checked-in for summer camps and instructors prepared for the day’s creative activities. It was a slightly overcast morning, which gave our arts castle an even cozier feel.

While students were deep in creative endeavors all throughout the building, three special guests representing the Genesis Inspiration Foundation came in with a big surprise.

The Genesis Inspiration Foundation, founded in 2018, is a nonprofit organization supported by Genesis Motor America. Their mission is to connect youth throughout the nation to the transformative power of the arts by offering support to organizations rooted in arts education. This year, the Foundation awarded 83 youth arts organizations, distributing a total of $3 million nationwide.

Fairmount was lucky enough to be one of the 83 organizations chosen this year, and, on that cloudy July morning, Foundation representatives came to visit our center and present us with a large check for $25,000!

The Foundation representatives hailed from their headquarters in California and their regional office in Chicago. Fairmount board members Melanie Maloney and Pat Papesh joined some of Fairmount’s administrative staff and morning campers to celebrate and pose for a photo op on the patio.

The Foundation has announced this year’s grant winners on their social media page. Can you spot Fairmount on the map?

This is Fairmount's first grant in recent years awarded by a national funder who's granting making processes are very competitive. We are so humbled to be chosen by the Genesis Inspiration Foundation and are excited to share this incredible news with you!
