A Tribute to Libby
As we approach the first anniversary of the passing of beloved dance teacher and founder of the Fairmount Spanish Dance Company, Libby Lubinger, we pay tribute to her legacy by sharing photos and performance materials from our archives that capture her enduring impact on Fairmount.
The above photo shows Libby teaching a Spanish Dance class circa 1978 in the studio that is now named “The Libby Lubinger Studio” dedicated to her in 2013 on her 80th birthday.
The below is a statement from the Fairmount Spanish Dancers describing their origin and mission in the community, circa 1978.
An article from the Cleveland Plain Dealer dated June 8, 1980.
“The legacy of Libby and the Lubinger family continues on at Fairmount through the Libby Lubinger Spanish Dance fund which supports a variety of initiatives to enhance Spanish Dance programs out in the community. Her love of dance and commitment to supporting her students throughout her career is something we continue to hold close to our hearts.”
