"Cedar Falls"

My work is inspired by natural and urban environments, by factors which affect them and by current issues. I create places in which viewers can interpret based on their own reflective experience. Each individual’s perception of surroundings and events is unique; therefore multiple understandings of my art are possible.  Art, like life is a process of transition. Change includes resistance, imposition and synchronicity and Art making allows me to explore these conditions. My process includes breaking down form and detail in order to create composition and new content.  Layers, sometimes containing collaged materials, are concealed and exposed, establishing a physical and psychological history. My work expresses states of fragility, endurance, order and chaos. They are like archeological discoveries in which past, present and unresolved questions of future have been captured simultaneously.

Tina Grondin works from her studio, at home in Garrettsville, Ohio. She earned a degree in Art Education and a Masters in Art (painting) from Kent State University and enjoyed a career in Art Education. Tina made the difficult decision to leave teaching after losing much of her sight, and now pursues art making full time. Her paintings have been exhibited and have earned awards at several juried shows, including Group Ten Gallery, Summit Art Space, Fairmount Center for the Arts, Valley Art Center, The Box Gallery and at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Akron. She is a member of The Women’s Art League of Akron, Artists of Rubber City and is represented by The Group Ten Gallery in Kent where she is an associate member.
