Join us for our FREE Speaker Series lectures featuring experts in the arts sharing their knowledge! Past Speaker Series include presentations on Pablo Picasso, Dale Chihuly, Bruce Springsteen, and more!

Pull Back the Curtain: The Art of Being a Ballerina

October 24th, 3pm-4pm

Join Fairmount Center for the Arts and professional dancer Kate Webb Berk for insight, stories and tales from her professional career as a ballerina. Kate dances professionally with Verb Ballets (one of Northeast Ohio’s oldest and most respected dance companies) where she has been a company dancer for 7 years. Originally from Richmond, VA, Kate danced as a company trainee with Richmond Ballet. She then attended Butler University where she graduated (in three years!) with a BS in Dance and Arts Administration. Kate has been on Faculty with Fairmount Center for the Arts since 2015 where in addition to teaching the advanced ballet classes, she is the Director of the Fairmount Dance Company which provides additional educational and community performances throughout Northeast Ohio.

Felicia Zavarella Stedelman will go behind the scenes with Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci is known as one of the most influential artists of our time, whose immense talent and dedication to art made him a globally renowned artist who is known for embodying the Renaissance. 

Da Vinci said, “People of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.” Using music, prints and powerful images to tell the artist’s story, Felicia will introduce you to this extraordinarily accomplished man.
