School of Dance and Recreational Dance

For nearly 50 years, the Fairmount School of Dance has offered the highest-quality dance instruction to young students, while creating a nurturing and focused environment where dancers can develop their potential as technicians, artists and young adults. Many of our teachers are professional dancers and perform with Cleveland’s Verb Ballet.

Fairmount dancers are encouraged to embrace the many dance styles we offer, including Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern/Contemporary, Tap, and Spanish Dance. Many students also develop skills in choreography. In addition, we offer students the opportunity to perform in the community throughout the year.

Looking for something fun? Our Recreational Dance Program offers accessible dance classes in a welcoming setting for all ages, from toddlers to adults. Try a class in tap, adult ballet or African dance or treat your child to dance camp.

Need dance shoes? Fairmount Center for the Arts Upcycles and has a variety of gently used free ballet, tap and jazz shoes that any student can use.

Come Dance!

The Fairmount School of Dance (FD) seeks to train well-rounded dancers with a solid technical foundation who are prepared to face the stiff expectations of the professional dance world. FD offers a progressive curriculum in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, and tap technique.

FD students are required to take ballet technique and students in Levels IV and up are also required to take an additional style of dance.  In order to focus exclusively on technique during class, FD rehearsals are where choreography is rehearsed for bi-annual performances.
