PROGRAMMING PLANS
Our first official arts education programming begins in the Fall of 2008. The primary programming in the first year will be theatre and performing arts programming through the youth conservatory. workshops in Theatre, Music and Dance will be offered for people of all ages.
Our plan is to offer our first professional theatre, dance and music season beginning in the spring of 2009.
THEATRE
Fairmount's Theatre program is rated as one of the finest in northeast Ohio. We have brought the finest professional talents in Northeast Ohio together to develop an unparallelled training experience for young and old alike. Our staff includes professional actors, directors, teachers, playwrights, screenwriters, choreogrpahers and set designers from theatres all over the region; including The Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Carousel Dinner Theatre, The Cleveland Theatre Company, Case Wesern Reserve University, Cuyahoga Community College, Actors from The Cleveland Play House, The Beck Center, and many other fine organizations. We will continue to build this program to draw students from all over the state.
Fairmount offers workshops for theatre students of all ages. The program takes students step by step through a training program where each class evolves naturally into the next - from 1st Grade students through young teens, to teens, to adults, to a full professional studio program.
DANCE
The Center's School of Dance helps individual students develop healthy, disciplined bodies, creative minds, and an in-depth knowledge and appreciate of dance as an
art form.
The curriculum appeals to a broad range of talents, ages and interests. Dance workshops, an annual student showcase concert, the Fairmount Spanish Dancers and the Fairmount Dance Theatre encourage students to develop skills in choreography and performance.
For the serious student, the Fairmount Dance Programs seek to train students to be well-rounded and prepared to face the stiff expectations of the professional dance world. Our program includes a ballet-based curriculum with additional emphasis in modern and jazz techniques, along with such vital and highly articulated dance forms such as Spanish Dance. Versatility is vital to today's dancers; therefore, Fairmount dancers are encouraged to embrace the many dance workshops offered. The faculty at Fairmount create a nurturing, yet demanding, and concentrated environment where dancers are encouraged to explore their potential as technicians, artists and young adults.
Dance Workshops will begin in the winter session 2007 as soon as renovation to the dance rooms is complete.
PERFORMANCES
Our partnership plans are to utilizing the new Mayfield Village Performing Arts Center to develop a robust arts program that will position Mayfield Village in conjunction with the Fairmount Center's arts initiative as one of the premiere locations for sustained community-based arts training and high quality professional/community entertainment opportunities in Northeast Ohio.
This will include professional theatre performances, orchestra concerts, dance concerts, music concerts, art gallery showings, play readings, benefits, youth and teen theatre shows and the opportunity for outside groups to take advantage of the facility when not in use.
