Fairmount Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the exhibition Vulnerability to Resilience, featuring the solo artwork of Jaymi Zents, now through January 28th. The show is free and open to the public. A reception in Jaymi’s honor will be held at Fairmount Center on Saturday, January 28th, from 5-7 p.m.
When asked to describe her work, Jaymi explains, “The human figure has always been the primary focus of my work. Many of my subjects are women who are self-aware, but vulnerable at once. The ephemeral elements of mood and thought are met by the visceral qualities and implications of flesh. Figurative subjects allow study of the relationships and co-dependence of dualities: the repugnant to the pure; immobility and entrapment to freedom; the hidden and suppressed to the exposed and uncontrolled; vulnerability to resilience; chaos to quiet.”
Jaymi graduated in 1997 from Cleveland Institute of Art with a bachelor of fine arts degree in drawing. She is a recipient of an Individual Artists Fellowship from the Ohio Arts Council and has done freelance work for The Health Museum of Cleveland, Picker International, and Kaleidoscope Animations. Additionally, she served as the resident artist for the Cleveland San Jose Ballet and worked in the education department for the Cleveland Museum of Art.
