JUDGES

Michael Nekic, a life-long resident of Northeast Ohio, has been a fine art photographer for the past thirty years, focusing on digital photography for the past twelve years. He has taken art, photography, and digital imaging courses but is largely self-taught. He serves on the board of directors for The New
Center for Art and Technology, a non-profit organization that promotes and educates the public on all forms of digital art. His work has been exhibited in numerous shows including The Gates Mills Invitational, Fairmount Russell Art Exhibition,
Valley Art Center, and Ingenuity Festival. He has done eight solo exhibitions since 2001. His work is currently featured at the following galleries: Imagery (Chagrin Falls), Artists Review Today (Galleria, downtown Cleveland), and The Glass Growers Gallery (Erie, PA) His work has received many significant awards.

Ken Roby has raised the craft of blacksmithing to a high art. He maintains a shop in Auburn Township where, aided by two assistants, he produces custom metal works ranging from tabletop-size art objects to massive staircases and mammoth gates. He is often commissioned to restore irreplaceable historic metal artworks such as those of the Hungarian Cultural Garden in Cleveland. Ken holds a BA
degree from Kent State University and completed the farrier science program at Montana State University. He has both taken classes and taught at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Ken, who is a member of several smithing organizations, also
regularly conducts iron working demonstrations and clinics.  This award-winning artist has been the subject of or author of a number of articles in trade, art, and general interest publications.

Marilyn Szalay holds both a BA and MBA in drawing and painting from Kent State University. Since 1975, she has been teaching at various institutions in Northeast Ohio including The Cleveland Institute of Art, The University of Akron, and currently Cuyahoga Community College. She has also worked as a photographer for the Sun Newspapers and Cleveland Ballet. She has produced illustrations for the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions including The Butler Institute of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Massilon Museum of Art, and Ashland College. She has received many awards in these exhibits, including Best Graphic and Best Portrait in the 2007 Fairmount Russell Art exhibition.

ENTRY DETAILS

  • Entries must be original work of the entering
    artist completed in the past two years,
    and not exhibited previously at the
    Fairmount Center, or any other juried art
    show in northeastern Ohio.
  • 2-D entries must be unwrapped, sturdily
    framed, wired, and ready for hanging.
  • 2-D work may not exceed 5ft. x 4ft.
  • 3-D work may not exceed 3ft. x 4ft. x 6ft.H.
  • Artists may supply their own display stands,
    space permitting.
  • No sawtooth hangers, uniframes, or gallery
    clips are allowed.
  • Participants will be notified of jury results by
    phone upon completion of the judging.
    INSURANCE
  • Entries are insured by the Fairmount
    Center; however, artists should insure
    their entries independently. Any artwork
    NOT retrieved within ten days of the
    closing of the show becomes the property
    of the Fairmount Center.

    INSTALLATION
  • Installation of the show is final and no work
    may be removed before the show closes.
