PROFESSIONAL
TRAINING WORKSHOP
entering 6th – 12th grade, and college; younger students may
be admitted by permission of the camp director

Campers in the Professional Training Workshop all take a core
curriculum of acting and scene study in the morning; in the afternoon
they take audition technique, improvisation, singing for the theatre,
dance and Shakepeare.
These options will be supplemented by other “one-shot”
flex time options such as stage makeup, martial arts, stage combat,
directing, and guest artists such as Tom Fulton and Seth Gordon.
The students in this program will be divided into groups by age
and experience. An audition and interview (details on the faq
page link) with camp director Fred Sternfeld are required for
admission to this program and can be scheduled by calling 440-338-3171
or clicking on the link to the left.
The primary staff for this program are comprised of a dream team
of local professionals: Carol Pribble, Mitchell B. Fields, Dudley
Swetland and George Roth. Additional Staff to be announced soon.

The regular FPAC day begins.
Acting
Techniques, Auditioning & Scene Study – All PTW Campers
will participate in acting workshops with the goal of creating
truthful, three dimensional characterizations. Those principals
will be applied to scene work, monologues and songs from the contemporary,
Shakespeare and musical theatre repertoire. In addition, there
will be voice work to develop diction and projection and audition
techniques including the do’s and don’ts.
Noon
Lunch. Students will have time to eat their bagged lunch
and socialize!

Acting Techniques, Auditioning & Scene Study continues from

1:30pm
– 2:30pm
&
2:30pm – 3:30pm
Each student will take all of these classes – each class
will be offered for part of the three week session. There may
be other core classes offered as well.
• “Improvisation” - A potpourri of improv techniques
developed by Viola Spolin and Second City with the aim of freeing
up each student’s spontaneity and creativity.
• “Singing for the Musical” - Learn a song that
can be used at an audition, as well as putting it in the context
of it’s scene.
• “Dance” - Varying dance styles will be explored
through technique class and choreography: Broadway, ballet, modern,
jazz, tap, hip-hop and others.
• “Shakespeare” – Learn a treasure chest
of information about acting Shakespeare, bringing his remarkable
characterizations and language in reach of the contemporary actor.
This
class will spend part of the time developing your projection and
diction.
3:30pm
Flex Time – Choose between a recreational activity or an
additional performing arts class each day: swimming, field sports,
free time, dance class, improvisation, directing, stage management,
stage makeup, stage combat, characterization through movement,
vocal technique, Shakespeare, clowning, martial arts, yoga and
many, many others. Guest Artists Tom Fulton, Seth Gordon and others
will also lead workshops.

For those who audition and are cast - attend rehearsal for FPAC
PRESENTS: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat or Romeo & Juliet.
4:30pm
The regular FPAC day ends.
OR
Rehearsal Continues for those who have auditioned and are cast
in FPAC PRESENTS.
An
additional array of classes are offered. These are optional for
an extra fee.
5:30pm
Optional classes end.
6:00pm FPAC PRESENTS Rehearsal ends.
