TOUR INFORMATION
Chaperoning: Fairmount Performing Arts
Camp staff chaperone the trip, assisted by parent volunteers.
The ratio is about 2 staff members and parents to every 6 kids.
We ask parents how closely they want their children chaperoned.
Some opt to give their kids free time using the "buddy system"
in Times Square or Chinatown. Some want their child glued to a
chaperone at all times, even waiting outside a bathroom stall.
In the hotel the kids stay 2 or 4 to a room, or can be roomed
with an adult chaperone. We customize the chaperoning to each
parent's written instructions.
Also, when children younger than grade six attend, their whole
family comes with them and chaperone the child(ren) themselves.
Luggage Information: Basically 1 suitcase or bag under
motor coach and 1 carry-on bag with you above your seat. Small
pillows are encouraged. All snacks and garbage must be cleaned
up by persons consuming them. All CD/DVD players must be used
with headphones. Individuals are responsible for their possessions.
The motor coach will be locked while driver or tour guide is not
on the motor coach.
Motorcoach Information : The travel time to NYC via
motorcoach will last approx. 8 hours. We will stop 3 times each way
(1 meal & 2 restroom stops). Our motorcoaches have 47 seats. The
first row is reserved for the tour sponsors and Traveling Classrooms
Tour Escort. The remainder of the 43 seats are available on a "first
come/first serve basis." You will be able to change seats at the start
of each day, but you must keep that same seat for the remainder of that
day. Our motorcoaches are equipped with restrooms and a video system.
The restrooms are used in emergency situations only. The video system
will provide the newest PG movies available.
Hotel Information: Our hotel will be a Hampton. There
are no balconies and the windows do not open. The doors open into an
interior hallway. Each room will have 2 double beds. Roommates will
be selected in coordination with the trip coordinators in advance. Our
rooms will be blocked off per floor. Camper rooms will have an "in-room"
curfew. You are not permitted outside of your room after that time.
The curfew will be around ½ hour after we return for our daily
sightseeing. We will have private security personnel in each hallway
and floor to insure our group will not be bothered by other hotel clients.
The pay per view movies are not available. The phones are available
for room-room calls only. The hotel will have a free continental breakfast
available daily.
Dress Code: Please wear something that you
will be comfortable in all day. The bus leaves the hotel early in the
morning and we will not be back until 11:00pm or midnight each night -
so dress for the day and be comfortable. Shorts are permitted, although
length discretion should be observed. Dress for the Broadway shows should
also be comfortable. We will not return to our hotel to change clothes
before the shows. A rule of thumb: You can always leave a jacket/raincoat
on the motor coach.
Tour Guidelines/Schedules: We will follow our scheduled itinerary. Please listen closely to your Traveling Classrooms' tour guide. Listening will provide you with current sightseeing tips, safety precautions and general NYC info. Any individual schedule changes will be only permitted to adult clients. Adult Clients: You will not be refunded for sightseeing areas missed; you must be at the appointed group pickup area on time or be responsible for your own transportation to the next scheduled tour drop-off area or back to the hotel.
Spending Money, Sightseeing and Best Shopping Areas: This tour includes all meals, sightseeing admissions, transportation and lodging. The only money you need is for souvenirs, snacks and sodas. We suggest approximately $20 per day for souvenirs.
Emergency/Medical Information: If you haven't done so
already, please download and fill out an"emergency medical form"
from the "registration" link to the left. This form
must be mailed to Fairmount Center by July 28. Every participant
on the trip, adult or child, must fill out the med form. If you
have already filled out a form for your child for their FPAC session,
that will suffice. All parents will need to sign the "Emergency
Care" waiver. This will allow any medical facility to treat your
child if the need arises. If we have a medical situation, we will
call the parents or guardians ASAP.
