Nick Klein is a recent graduate of Solon High School. Nick began playing piano at a very young age and as he progressed as a pianist, he began learning how to play many other instruments.
Throughout his past four years at Solon High School Nick was a member of the Troubadours, the A cappella choir, the Madrigals, and Solon High School’s award winning Music In Motion Show choir. Nick served as a vocal section leader for all of these groups and accompanied all of these groups at many concerts. Nick also served as the treasurer and student music director for Music In Motion his senior year in the group.
Nick was also selected to perform many solos throughout his high school career. Nick received the music department award for Exemplary Interest in music his freshman year and received the Vocal Music award his junior year. Although Nick received these awards, his greatest honor was being selected as both a junior and a senior to direct the Hallelujah Chorus at the Solon High School holiday choir concert.
Nick has been involved in many productions both onstage and offstage. Some of Nick’s favorite rolls include Lt. j.g. Samuel Weinberg in A Few Good Men, Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast, Mr. Lundie in Brigadoon, and The Mayor of Munchkin City in The Wizard of Oz. Nick has also served as the musical coordinator for William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, for which he composed and played several songs that were performed as part of the production along with several other musicians selected by Nick.
Nick has also served as the assistant music director and pit orchestra pianist at the Solon Center for the Arts for the past two summer stock performances, which include Lucky Stiff and Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along. Nick has also had the wonderful experience of teaching a course called “Music for Lil’ Ones” at the Solon Center for the Arts, in which he taught a music class for children from ages three to five. Along with teaching this class, Nick has had the wonderful opportunity to teach young children to play the piano and violin for many years now and has thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
In the fall, Nick will be leaving all of his students and family as he begins his college education at the Capital University Conservatory of Music where he plans to pursue a degree in vocal music education, vocal performance, and piano performance.
