Fairmount Center for the Arts is dedicated to the advancement of the arts in Ohio through excellence in training and performance for people of all ages and levels of mastery, from early youth to seasoned professional. Our programming seeks to challenge, enrich and nurture, providing self-confidence and understanding that encourages each student to thrive as a creative individual.
Our Mission
The mission of Fairmount Center is to nourish the artist within, by providing professionally-guided arts training and performance for all ages and skill levels.
Our History
Founded in 1970 by Ron and Jan Kumin, Fairmount Center quickly established itself in a a 9,000 square-foot facility on Fairmount Road in Russell Township which included three rehearsal studios, a visual arts and pottery classroom and a gallery for the fine arts.
Today, the Fairmount Center's programming includes classes in fine art, dance, music, theatre, and exercise and fitness as well as performance opportunities through the Fairmount Spanish Dancers, Fairmount Dance Theatre, and Fairmount Performing Arts Conservatory. The Center also sponsors performance and exhibition opportunities with the Fairmount Russell Art Exhibition and the Northeast Ohio Dance Festival. The Fairmount Center's performance venues include the Mayfield Village Civic Center, Cuyahoga Community College East, and Hawken Upper School.
